The tow hook MOUNT (the attachment point in the bumper) is what failed, not the tow hook itself. As part of the event, my front bumper cover got ripped off and my rear bumper cover got smashed in. Tow hook just needs to be mounted to a solid part of the chassis that can actually take pulling the entire weight of the car. As it got to the end of the flat bed, the tow hook ripped out of the bumper, and my car rolled backwards through the grass into the wall I had already avoided once. My car had to be towed about 30 feet across the grass to the tow truck. I did have to drill one extra 9/16' hole in the bracket, to bolt on the tow hooks, using two bolts. You usually find them on very large trucks, like mud trucks and Monster Trucks. Things got exciting after the session ended and I had to be towed out. Right side tow Hook: Left side tow Hook: Each hook carries a 6000 rating. I was stuck, so I turned on the radio and waved to the passing cars. The car was fine after the spin, no contact.I came to a stop about 6 feet from the wall.no big deal really.just a good ol' fashion spin. Hi all - do any of you guys have creative solutions for mounting a tow hook on an E46 M3? I spun at Road Atlanta this weekend and got stuck in the mud, car wouldn't start, etc., and had to be towed out using the front tow hook. ![]()
